Corporate Transparency Act: Filing Requirements Reinstated – Practical Panel Discussion On What To Do Now?
Happy holidays from the Fifth Circuit! Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) filings are back on (for now). On December 23, 2024, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit granted a stay of the district court’s preliminary injunction enjoining CTA entered in the case of Texas Top Cop Shop, Inc. v. Garland. So, until the Department of the Treasury’s ongoing appeal of the district court’s order is finally resolved, the requirement to file is back on. FinCEN has provided a bit of leeway on certain filings until January 13, 2025 (instead of January 1, 2025). Clients now have to file over the holidays or first few weeks of January to avoid the potential for harsh fines and even jail time. You’ve seen the flurry of email blasts announcing this new development, but the tough question is what to do and what to tell clients now! This webinar will update practitioners on the latest developments and discuss various practical issues that many clients have faced with filings, even problems and frustrations the panelists themselves have had to navigate with the FinCEN website and recalcitrant BOIs. What practical suggestions might help clients file under the very limited deadline left? Attendance limited to first 1,000 registrants but the recording will be made available. A live Q&A will follow the program.
Speakers: Martin Shenkman, Esq., Jonathan G. Blattmachr, and Alan S. Gassman. Additional panelists may be added.

* No CPE, CLE, etc. is offered but a certificate of attendance will be provided.
