How do you submit a proposal to settle an auto accident case for the policy limits to the at fault party’s insurance carrier? What legal forms can I use without involving an attorney?
You could send in a written proposal. Eventually a release will have to be signed, but the carrier may provide this. What’s the beef about not involving an attorney? So often there are ancillary or subtle issues a lay person doesn’t recognize. Perhaps you can consult an attorney for a meeting just to make sure you’ve addressed all the issues. If you want to do it inexpensively, the local bar association may have a program for young attorneys who will give you an initial consultation at a rather modest cost. Saving money is good. Missing a potentially important point is not. Its your call.
